This Privacy Policy applies to the Android application NetScan (package name com.senolc.netscan, the “App”), published on Google Play by Vologi (Senol Cagir) (“we”, “us”, “the developer”). Contact: [email protected]. Website: vologi.com.
NetScan does not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or any other personal information. The App displays ads served by Google AdMob, which may process the limited technical data described in Section 4. Network information the App reads from your device (such as Wi-Fi name and nearby networks) is processed on your device and is not sent to us or to advertisers.
To work as a network scanner and Wi-Fi analyzer, the App reads information about your current network and nearby networks, such as Wi-Fi name (SSID), BSSID, signal strength, channel, link speed, local IP address, gateway, DNS servers, cellular network type and operator, and the devices found on your local network. Reading the Wi-Fi name and nearby Wi-Fi networks requires the Android location permission (and, on newer Android versions, the Nearby Wi-Fi Devices and Local Network permissions). The App does not use your GPS location and does not collect, store or transmit your location. This information is shown only to you and is not sent to us or to any third party. Your settings, saved devices (for example Wake on LAN entries) and tool history are stored locally on your device only.
When you run a tool, the App sends the corresponding request to the target or service you choose, and, as with any internet request, that server can see your IP address. Examples: Ping, Traceroute, Port Checker, SSL and HTTP inspectors contact the host you enter; the Speed Test downloads and uploads test data from public servers such as Cloudflare; the DNS tools and Wi-Fi Safety Check query public DNS-over-HTTPS resolvers (such as Cloudflare, Google or Quad9); the IP Geolocation tool sends an IP address to a public IP-information service; the WHOIS tool sends the domain you enter to our own WHOIS service at vologi.com; maps, where shown, load tiles from OpenStreetMap servers. We do not link these requests to your identity, and we do not receive the results of tools that run only between your device and the target you chose.
Google AdMob (Google LLC): the App displays ads. AdMob may collect and use the Android advertising ID, IP address (from which approximate location may be derived), device and app information (such as device model, OS version, app version, language), ad interaction data and diagnostic data to serve, measure and secure ads, to prevent fraud, and to personalize ads where permitted by law and your settings. Where required (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), we ask for your consent before personalized ads are shown. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization in your Android device settings (Settings > Google > Ads). We do not receive your advertising ID from AdMob.
Providers handle data under their own policies: Google Privacy Policy and AdMob data usage. The Wi-Fi, local-network and cellular information read by the tools in Section 2 is never provided to AdMob or to advertisers.
The only requests that reach our own server are WHOIS lookups for the domain name you enter. Our server processes the request to return the result; standard server logs (such as IP address and timestamp) may be kept for a short period for security and abuse prevention. We do not use this data for advertising or profiling.
We use the information above solely to operate the App, return the results you request, serve and measure ads, prevent abuse and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
Data is shared only with Google AdMob as described in Section 4. Tool requests you initiate are necessarily sent to the services described in Section 3, which handle data under their own privacy policies. We may disclose information where required by law.
Locally stored data is deleted when you clear the App’s data or uninstall the App. Data held by AdMob is retained according to Google’s policies; you can reset your advertising ID in Android settings. To request deletion of any server log data associated with you, email [email protected].
Requests to our service and to AdMob are sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Some tools, by design, can contact hosts you enter over unencrypted HTTP; only use them with targets you trust. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect information.
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data. Contact [email protected] to exercise them.
NetScan is intended for diagnosing and securing networks you own or are authorized to test. Scan only networks and hosts you have permission to test.
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows the latest revision. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
